Hello 2014

Welcome 2014! Hope your holidays were fun, renewing and refreshing.

The New Year arrived here with a blast. Six degrees and two feet of snow.

Vincent Van Gogh

Bequest of John T. Spaulding

The MFA came up with a brilliant concept sure to banish the snow blues, if only for 10 minutes or so. Starting Monday, over the next four weeks, the public is invited to vote for our most-loved Impressionist works.

Paul Segnac

The paintings with the most votes will be in a special exhibition "Boston Loves Impressionism". Opening Valentine's Day and running through May 26th, this is looking good for a Mother's Day venue.

Each week has a theme. The Van Gogh and Segnac are just two of  Week One's group of 17 snow-free, watery themed masterpieces. Landscapes are up for Week Two and people are slated for Week Three. The final round is January 27-29.

Share the Love and cast your vote.

Hope your weekend is snug and warm.

Wishing you much joy, happiness and prosperity for 2014!

These fabrics would be perfect for my family room. A girl can dream, no?

  1. Hi Linda, when did you put up the new header? I love it. I would be dreaming over those fabrics and trims, too. Should I vote even though I don't live in the area?

Hi Linda, I've just returned this week from a quick trip to New England. We didn't pop into the MFA while in Boston but finally - finally! - I saw the Isabella Stewart Granger museum. I was overcome when I saw the courtyard....kind of had to pull myself together for a second I was so moved by the beauty of it.
