2012 Color of the Year

Pantone's pick for "2012 color of the year" is Tangerine Tango. Definitely a head turner.

left, Pantone's color of the year, Tangerine Tango. right, SherwinWilliams 6884 Obstinate Orange. Yes, immediately we have to look for paint and pictures.
Excerpts from Pantone's press release:

"..a spirited reddish orange, .....sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, ...Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

Not ready for a big dose of Tangerine Tango, like your foyer or dining room? Not to worry, this color is a knock-out in small quantities. The Pink Pagoda's "Tangerine Paisley Indian Elephant" giclee is fun and affordable.

Elephants and paisley. We love both. This would look great in a blue room. Or in a gray room it would be stunning.

Pillows are the flirts of the design world. A great way to "date" a color without the long term commitment of paint. Or a sofa.

All from Designers Guild, l-r. solids and stripes from the "essentials panaro collection" to order, in the middle is the very happy looking Florida Key inspired "flamingo park azure blue cushion" 18"x18" which can be purchased online, and far right is a cushion in a fabric designed by Christian Lacroix called Riviera Garance also to purchase online. Cushion is British for pillow.

In March, Sephora will release a limited edition collection of Tangerine Tango cosmetics including eyeshadow. I'm not sure I can wait that long....
There are several orange/tangerine/mango lovers in my family. I'm hoping they, and all OTM lovers out there, will comment on why they love OTM, and what OTM things they have in their homes and wardrobes.

Thanks for reading,
