Mother's Day

Mother's Day is Sunday. If the weather is nice, brunch outside is always lovely. A few gift and outdoor entertaining ideas.

clockwise from the top:

Sunglasses. What Mom couldn't use a spare pair? Sorry, Roger is otherwise engaged.

A good looking and useful bike accessory. Carrie Bike Basket also doubles as a shopping basket. Swedish childhood memories of tea with Grandma and her crocheted tablecloths was the spark for this handy bike basket.

Melamine dishes are a must for outdoor entertaining. Virtually unbreakable and reasonably priced. Jonathan Adler's stylish melamine, Macy's.

Easy and inexpensive table decor for your Mother's Day brunch. I really like the soft, organic feel of this rock and moss runner. Sorry this isn't brighter, look closely.

Abigail Ryan's edible daisies for Mom's cupcake. These happy daisies would also look fresh on a wedding cake, or shower cupcakes.

Cast from estate originals, Pennoyer Newman makes classic planters, pots and statuary that make a statement on any entry, balcony, deck, terrace patio. Not too many pots are this beautiful when empty. I would not hesitate to use them inside.

I don't know the brand of these old cast concrete planters. They're handy in the kitchen. Heavy enough to use as a bookend or holding gadgets. photo by Linda Pakravan

Tuscan inspired Talavera melamine from www.PotteryBarn.com.

Lanterns. Festive during the day and softly lighting the deck as evening falls. Solar powered LED lanterns in a variety of shapes and colors. Grandinroad.

Designed for outdoor cocktail parties, the Loll Wallbanger hanging bar. Named after Duke Antone, the mixologist who first concocted Harvey Wallbangers in the 1950's. The door doubles as a work surface and when the party's over, magnets keep it shut tight. Perfect for smaller outdoor spaces where floor space is at a premium (and you won't have to worry about getting the bar cart back inside).

If Mom's outdoor accouterment is all set, I'm sure she'd love jewelry. I'm hard pressed to find a female who doesn't. And judging by the repins from my Elephant Board on Pinterest, there are a lot of females who love elephants as well. Shompole Bone Cuff from Indagare Souk (yes, I featured this in a previous post, I love it, but that doesn't mean I want it for Mother's Day!). If Mom isn't as gaga over elephants as we are, Indagare Souk has plenty of unique gifts.

What are your Mother's Day plans?
