Pink and Orange

Two colors. Two causes.

Pink.
There's no missing the recent flurry of blog posts reminding us that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Here's a way to contribute and support a socially responsible company.

I really like that Company C's commitment goes way beyond October. Now through September 2011, Company C will donate 20% of sales from their Sister's Rug and Karen's Rug to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® with a minimum guaranteed donation of $25,000. www.companyc.com

These exuberant little rugs are a splash of hope and a day brightener for sure.

I can get behind Company C. They are committed to help eradicate two ugly realities in our world, breast cancer and child labor.

Their hand made rugs from India are created without the use of child labor. Company C is a member of GoodWeave, the independent certification organization that requires manufacturers to open their doors for on-going monitoring and inspection.

Plus, Company C is right here in New England. No, Company C does not compensate me for the mention.

Orange.
Feed a child.
FEED trick-or-treat bags. FEED's website says each bag purchased will enable UNICEF to provide one child in the developing world with a year's worth of micro nutrient powders. Lauren Bush and team FEED designed this sturdy bag to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF. Inexpensive, responsibly produced and a good cause.
