Mary McDonald for Schumacher

Rarely do I get this excited about a new launch! Mary McDonald for Schumacher.

Mary gives us Chinoiserie, clean color, graphic style, drama, sophistication and that subjective and ever so hard to get right quality without going way over the top -- glamour. Her collection gives all and then some. Printed linen, matelasse, cut velvets, and upholstery weaves blend traditional elements with today's fresh colors.

Chinois Palais, printed linen. Each linen panel above is 54" wide by 131.5" high.
This is the answer to my heretofore unmet waneed*: a real hand painted silk Chinese mural which finances did not permit.
Used for full length curtains, the mural effect is achieved.
*waneed: when want and need are the same

Dramatically scaled embroidered tapes and appliques up the glamour factor but are so tastefully done the effect is elegantly graphic, not a whiff of gaudy.

Appliques on the pillows, the cube in Vanderbilt Cut Velvet.

What a refreshing change after years of acid greens.

Orange lovers' delight.
Pantone may think Emerald is the color of 2013 but 2012's Tangerine Tango
spoke to so many that it isn't a one year trend, it is here to stay.

Soothing blush with neutrals for those who appreciate a calmer palette.

Park Avenue Python printed linen on the chair.
Up till now I haven't been all that keen on reptiles; this works for me.
Madame Wu applique on pillow.

This is genius. splitting the applique.

Livable.

See the entire collection here, Mary McDonald for Schumacher. It has all the details and glamour photography for your viewing pleasure. Visit Schumacher's website if the brochure link does not work.

  1. Hi Linda, The very first fabric I ever bought for my first apartment straight out of college was Schumacher fabric! I love their designs. It makes me feel nostalgic for the curtains I fashioned out of several of their prints.
