One Room Challenge

New Jersey's Linda, the charming and intrepid force and voice of the popular blog,

Calling it Home

is also the genius behind the One Room Challenge event that took design blogdom by storm.

Twice a year Linda selects 20 designers and design bloggers to completely transform a room in six weeks -- and every Wednesday post their progress. ORC is a six week adventure in creativity, design and insight into how designers think and solve problems. Plus a look at how stuff gets done in the real world.

And the best part is tagging along on the journey from the comfort of our laptop. A few before and afters from the last One Room Challenge.

Linda's family room at the start.

BEFORE

Along the way Linda gave a tutorial on how to pinch pleat IKEA curtains and add a decorative border.

AFTER

Chinoiserie Chic's Beth Connolly waved her magic wand over her ugly duckling laundry/entry

and turned it into a whimsical swan of a space. I'd sit at that table and fold laundry for sure.

Phyliss at Henhurst Interiors, just up the road in Vermont, turned a little girl bedroom

into Gustavian calm and sophistication. I love the nightstand bookcase.

So many people wanted in on the fun that Linda came up with another brainchild, a Linking Party on Thursdays. I think this is just the motivation I need to get my guest room going and finished. It has been languishing in the purgatory of indecision far too long. So starting next Thursday I'll be documenting my personal design saga. Stay tuned.

What room in your house would you do-over? Of course if you don't want to do it yourself and need a designer, email, we'll talk.

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!
